It has been brought to LLG’s attention that a concerned citizen in Alberta has initiated a change.org petition appealing to the Alberta government to stop or delay granting new coal mining licenses. The petition currently has close to 40,000 signatures.

LLG is not directly associated with this petition and has no further information beyond what is provided by change.org. The information is being shared here due to interest from members and other individuals about expressing their views in this way. LLG strongly recommends writing a personal letter or email to the government as the most effective way to get attention for our concerns but recognizes that some will prefer to participate in this way.

Please note that change.org is a for-profit organization and individuals interested in signing the petition may be solicited for funds. In such a case, we recommend paying close attention to the wording of any such solicitation as the funds are often sought to support change.org rather than going directly to the cause associated with the petition.
