Cancellation of the Chapel Rock to Pincher Creek Area Transmission Development

As many of you will recall, plans were being made by Altalink and AESO (Alberta Electric System Operator) for the construction of high voltage transmission lines and an electrical substation in environmentally sensitive areas west of Pincher Creek.

The LLG Board was very involved for several years in advocating against these projects.  We have heard very little about the projects for the past five years.  Recently the attached letters were placed in post office mailboxes in locations affected by these projects.

In summary, "as a result of declining power generation interest and further planning in the region", the AESO has determined that the Chapel Rock to Pincher Creek Area Transmission Development is no longer required and has officially cancelled the project.
